"Mad Men" is an award-winning dramatic television series that premiered in 2007. Season 4 premieres on AMC July 25, 2010 at 10/9c. Mad Men is set in the 1960s, at a fictional advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City. The main character is Don Draper, the creative director and partner at Sterling Cooper Ad Agency. The series is primarily about Don Draper's personal and professional life. Mad Men has received critical acclaim for its historical authenticity and has won nine Emmys and five Golden Globes.
The creator of Mad Men, Matthew Weiner, says he sees Mad Men as a feminist show because of its painfully accurate portrayal of the treatment of women in the workplace in the early 1960s. Weiner said the highest praise he ever gets is when a woman approaches him to say she was a secretary during the '60s and that the show got the sexual harassment exactly right. Kate Plus Eight
The days of Jon and Kate are over, but you can still keep up with Kate and the kids from time to time on TLC's new series of specials called Kate Plus 8. So far, at least three new episodes have aired. Set your Tivo to catch the reruns or check out the TLC website, if you've missed them. We're impressed by how Kate took an incredibly difficult situation (her very public divorce and custody battle, and the pain and humiliation of her husband's infidelity) and turned it into an opportunity to improve herself. Kate is now more popular, successful, and attractive then ever! Kate has shown an amazing amount of strength in publicly acknowledging her own role in the demise of her marriage, letting go of the hurt, and in moving forward.

Roseanne Season 8
Old, but still as relevant and as funny as ever. I found Seasons 8 and 9 of Roseanne at Target, two for the price of one. I hadn't watched Roseanne in years, and am impressed with what I've seen so far. It's a funny, light-hearted sitcom that addresses important issues, including prejudice, stereotypes, feminism, and gay marriage. The main female characters in Roseanne are far from traditional women. Roseanne is the primary breadwinner, her daughter Darlene is smart, mouthy, and rough around the edges, and Roseanne's sister Jackie worked as a police officer.
